The Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman will inaugurate the first-ever Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Investment Summit organized by the Nagaland-Government in Kohima on 22 August.

At a press conference in Kohima on August 18, Chief Executive Officer of the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), Alemtshi Jamir said that the Union Finance Minister would also participate in the Investors and Bankers meeting, with a special focus on Nagaland.

“MS. Sitharaman will be in Nagaland from August 22 to 24. “The conclave, which was earlier scheduled to be held on July 4 and 5, was postponed due to the inability of the Union minister to attend it,” he said.

However, with corporates, investors and bankers arriving in the state, the state government only organized a harbinger and postponed the conference.

“MS. Sitharaman has confirmed her schedule and will be in Kohima during the entire conclave and will try to take forward the implementation of various CSR projects and bring in investors as the Minister of Corporate Affairs,” he said.

He said that more than 100 corporates and investors from different parts of the country have confirmed their participation and the CSR funding is expected to increase to Rs 160 crore. Shri Jamir also clarified that IDAN is not acting as an implementer of any project, but only as a facilitator.

He said that the conclave is open to all Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) of the State who have fulfilled the requirements to be registered under the Corporate Law and have 2-3 CSR projects to implement. Working for years. He said that IDAN has opened the door and this conclave will not be the end of future CSR projects but it is only the beginning.

“IDAN has also set up a center for financial outreach at its office to help CSOs and NGOs in the state to prepare their projects and approach corporates for funding,” he added.

Joint Secretary IDAN Renee Wilfred informed that applications were received for about 400 projects from both CSR registered and unregistered bodies from across the state.

He said that IDAN plans to conduct a campaign to create awareness among CSOs on approaching corporates and investors for getting CSR funding and investments from industries as there are currently around 25 organizations in Nagaland catering to CSR requirement. Huh.

The Union Minister is likely to announce various projects of corporates and industries during the conclave.
