Find bugs and move on…: OpenAI’s thousands of dollars to offer users

OpenAI has also invited researchers to review some of ChatGPT’s functionality.

San Francisco:

OpenAI, the firm that created chatbot sensation ChatGPT, on Tuesday said it will offer up to $20,000 to users who report vulnerabilities in its artificial intelligence system.

The OpenAI bug bounty program, which went live on Tuesday, will offer people rewards starting at $200 per vulnerability, depending on the severity of the bugs they report.

Technology companies often use bug bounty programs to encourage programmers and ethical hackers to report bugs in their software systems.

According to details on the bug bounty platform Bugcrowd, OpenAI has invited researchers to review some of ChatGPT’s functionality and outlines how OpenAI systems communicate and share data with third-party applications.

The program does not contain false or malicious content generated by OpenAI systems.

The move comes days after ChatGPT was banned in Italy for suspected violations of privacy rules, prompting regulators in other European countries to study generative AI services more closely.

Microsoft Corp-backed OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which has taken the world by storm since its launch in November, has impressed some users with quick answers to questions and caused trouble for others with inaccuracies.
