An FIR has been registered against the headmaster and a class teacher of a prominent school in Dadar area for allegedly not allowing an 8-year-old girl to appear for a unit exam over unpaid school fees, police said.

An FIR has been registered against the principal and a class teacher of a prominent school in Dadar area for not giving a unit test to an eight-year-old girl for non-payment of school fees, police said on Saturday.

The father of the Class II student approached the police on Friday with a complaint, he said.

The school has produced a number of cricketers who have played at the international level.

He said the child was not allowed to appear in the unit test conducted on Wednesday.

“He was made to sit apart from other students in the class to humiliate him,” the officer said, citing the father’s complaint.

The police have registered an FIR under section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act. This section provides for punishment if any person having any child under his control, assaults, abandons, ill-treats or willfully neglects him or her. The official said the investigation is on and no arrests have been made.
