Noida: Five members of a gang who allegedly stole over a hundred cars and motorcycles NCR And western UP was arrested for nearly two years, police said on Tuesday.
Noida Additional DCP Ranvijay Singh said criminals – from Noida’s Sector 39 police station – would steal vehicles from Delhi and adjoining areas, break them down and sell parts to scrap dealers in Bulandshahr.
“Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a godown in Jahangirabad area of Bulandshahr and busted the racket. We arrested five people – Naviuddin alias NabinuTanveer Saifi, Shah Alam, Rizwan And Mohit KumarSingh said.
The accused told the police that Nabinu, a resident of Hapur, would pick up the vehicle from NCR along with Atul, who is currently absconding. They will then take the vehicles to Tanveer, Shah Alam and Rizwan in Bulandshahr, where the trio will separate them.
“Later the spare parts were given to Mohit for sale, while the body of the vehicle would be sold as scrap. We have recovered several stolen vehicles, including 12 motorcycles, two cars and an auto-rickshaw, and auto parts – two engines, chassis of a four-wheeler, over a hundred tyres, 11 CNG cylinders,” Singh said. An FIR was registered under sections 379 (theft), 411 (receiving stolen property) apart from other sections of the IPC.
