Five upcoming car/SUV launches in India in 2022 – Times of India

As the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic slows down, automakers are gearing up to launch their new models in India. Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Skoda and Volkswagen are going to introduce new vehicles in the Indian market soon. Here is a list of five cars launching in India this year. let’s take a look.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno
Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the 2022 Baleno facelift in India on 23 February. The carmaker had earlier opened the bookings for the Baleno facelift at a token amount of Rs 11,000. The Maruti Baleno will be available in two petrol variants: the 1.2-litre Dual VVT and the 1.2-litre DualJet. In terms of features, the new Baleno will come with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a segment-first 360-degree camera and Suzuki Connect technology with Alexa voice commands. Other changes will include an updated exterior design and a refreshed interior.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza Facelift
Maruti Suzuki is currently working on the Brezza facelift, and according to spy images, Maruti may drop ‘Vitara’ from the name of the car this time around. The 2022 Brezza facelift is expected to be launched in mid-2022 and will get the same 1.5-litre petrol engine that powers the current model. The engine is likely to come with a five-speed manual and an AMT unit. Coming to the exteriors, the Maruti Brezza facelift is expected to feature a new grille, L-shaped LED daytime running lights and L-shaped tail light cluster. Talking about the interiors, the new Maruti Brezza will get a touchscreen infotainment system and the traditional twin-dial instrument cluster.
Volkswagen virtuous
Based on the MQB AO IN platform, the Virtus sedan will make its global debut on March 8. Will serve as a replacement for the VW Virtus Volkswagen Vento in the Indian market. The Volkswagen Vertus will be available with two engine options – a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine. Both the variants will come with a six-speed manual gearbox. The 1.0-litre engine will be mated to a six-speed torque converter AT gearbox while the 1.5-litre will be offered with the DSG unit. Similar to the Taigun, Volkswagen will offer a GT variant in the Vertus sedan from the start.
Skoda slavia
Skoda India has confirmed the launch date of the Slavia on 28 February. The India-specific Slavia will be built on the same MQB AO IN platform as the Vertus and will be offered under the ‘India 2.0’ project. The Skoda Slavia will use 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI engines, producing 115 hp and 150 hp respectively. The gearbox options will also be the same as that of the Virtus. Some exterior updates on the Skoda Slavia will be 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, chrome finish on the grille, L-shaped LED daytime running lamps, sleek headlamps with LED projector setup and split LED tail lamps. Coming to the Slavia interior, the car oozes a premium feel with dual-tone black and beige themes, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster and more.
Hyundai Tucson
Hyundai is likely to launch the new Hyundai Tucson in the Indian market in March 2022. The new Tucson will come with a 2.0-litre diesel engine and a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic unit. The Tucson will get a new grille with LED DRLs, 19-inch alloy wheels, new headlamps and more. Talking about the new Tucson interior, it will get a bigger touchscreen infotainment screen than the current model. The system is expected to come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Level 1 autonomous driving technology can also be expected in the car, as it is available in the international markets and is now gaining popularity in India.
