Fodder scam: Lalu seems to be the only criminal in the world, what happened to other scams: RJD leader

A day after Lalu Prasad Yadav was convicted in the fodder scam, RJD vice-president Shivanand Tiwari on Wednesday wondered why only the party chief was being targeted in corruption cases.

“The special CBI court has punished Lalu Prasad Yadav time and again in one case. It had blamed Lalu Prasad earlier also, we were expecting the same result this time also. They filed five FIRs for one case and sentenced them separately.

“Also, the way leaders of ruling parties gave statements against Lalu Prasad Yadav, it seemed that he is the only criminal in the world and he is a saint,” Tiwari said.

“For any corruption case in our country, action takes place on the line to fulfill the political intent and motive of the ruling party in the country. Remembering the 2015 assembly elections of Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Gopalganj and Muzaffarpur rallies had said that Nitish Kumar was involved in 22 scams. At that time Narendra Modi was campaigning for the BJP and Nitish Kumar was the chief ministerial face of the Grand Alliance.

“What happened to those 22 scams? Were those charges quashed after Nitish Kumar jumped into the prime minister’s camp in 2017?” he asked.

“The irony is that Narendra Modi who had accused Nitish Kumar of 22 scams has now declared him the socialist leader of the country. More interestingly, Nitish Kumar, who had said that if he joins hands with Narendra Modi, crores of Muslims of the country will be scared, is accepting the certificate of being a socialist leader by hand,” Tiwari said.

Earlier on Tuesday, RJD leaders Jagdanand Singh, Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav, Shyam Rajak and several other leaders expressed similar views after Lalu Prasad Yadav’s sentence.

Apart from RJD leaders, Hindustani Awam Morcha Jitan Ram Manjhi also came out in support of Lalu Prasad Yadav.

“Lalu ji is a preacher of social equality and social justice in the country. The poor people of Bihar are disappointed after the CBI court convicted them in the fodder scam. He is making a huge contribution to the society,” said Manjhi, former Bihar chief minister.

“I would not like to comment on the decision of the court but I must say that the people of the country are taking inspiration from socialist leaders like him. It is sad and extremely unfortunate that in one case he is regularly going to jail. I pray to God for his good health,” Manjhi said.
