Following a Calcutta High Court directive, the West Bengal government decided to deploy paramilitary forces in three districts of Hooghly, Barrackpore and Kolkata during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations on April 5, a senior official said.

The decision was taken in a meeting held virtually by Chief Secretary HK Dwivedi with senior police officers of the state.

“Adequate number of state police forces will be deployed in sensitive areas in the state and also in places where violence was witnessed recently. In addition, we have decided to deploy three companies of paramilitary forces in Kolkata, Hooghly and Barrackpore. is,” said the officer PTI,
