Jawaharlal Nehru University has constituted teams of faculty members to promote transdisciplinary research in various schools of the university, its vice-chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar has said.

The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has formed teams comprising faculty members to promote trans-disciplinary research in various schools of the university, its vice-chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar has said. He said that at present most of the research projects are being done in the science schools of the university and there is a need to improve the output of other schools as well.

Elaborating further, Kumar said that on top of the list are biochemistry and molecular biology, environmental science, engineering, multidisciplinary science, materials science, chemistry, plant science, applied physics, biophysics, biotechnology and microbiology. Most publications have been published in the subjects.

“There are publications from Economics also but they are very few. When institutions are ranked, they look at research publications, we definitely need to improve research output in other schools,” he said.
