Former Bake Off champion unveils world’s largest Jaffa cake at Britain’s Got Talent

Francis Quinn previously won the fourth series of The Great British Bake Off in 2013.

Francis said it was a pleasure for him to partner with McVity, who broke his previous record five years ago.

What do you think you will get when you take 160 eggs and mix them with 15 kg of orange jelly and 8 kg of dark chocolate? Of course, these are the ingredients for the largest Jaffa cake in the world. You might think doing something like this is too far-fetched, but this delicious feat has been achieved by former Great British Bake-Off winner Frances Quinn with the staff of McVity using the company’s top-secret recipe.

The occasion was the 15th anniversary of the popular show Britain’s Got Talent. To make it special, the organizers wanted to do something that would make this day special and memorable forever. Keeping this thinking in mind, a plan was made to make the world’s largest Jaffa cake.

Francis Quinn had earlier won the fourth series of The Great British Bake Off in 2013. By baking an 80 kg cake, he has broken his record set five years ago in 2017.

The team at Britain’s Got Talent decided that Frances was the best person when it came to recreating the magic of baking a giant cake, and thus, she was invited to do the same with British snack brand McVity.

Together with product development specialist Will McMath, they accomplished the feat in under 11 hours at McVitie Bakery in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. More than 160 eggs, 8 kg of dark chocolate and 15 kg of orange jelly were used for this feat.

The result was the largest cake in the world, equal in size to 6,557 regular-sized Jaffa cakes. Its diameter was 175 cm. Cakes were served to the guests and crew in the show’s live semifinals in 300 servings. Francis said it was a pleasure for him to partner with McVity, who broke his previous record five years ago.
