  • India will be under pressure in Super 4 stage of Asia Cup, feels Virender Sehwag
  • India has generally dominated continental competition and has 7 trophies
  • Rohit Sharma’s men are going to face Sri Lanka in their next match

Ahead of India’s crucial encounter against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, 6 September, Virender Sehwag believes it could be Pakistan’s year to win the Asia Cup.

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Sehwag said that India would be under pressure after losing their first Super 4 game against Pakistan and would be in danger of being knocked out of the competition if they lose to Sri Lanka in their next game.

“If India lose another match by chance, they will be out of the tournament. Pakistan has the advantage because if they lose one match and win another, their net run rate will take them to the final as they have lost one match and won two. India has lost one and if they lose the other, they are out. So there is pressure on India,” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

Pakistan have been a strong unit since their first game loss against India and have already beaten Rohit Sharma’s men in clinical run chases. India, on the other hand, have found Virat Kohli back in form but made critical mistakes which led to their first loss of the tournament against Pakistan.

“Pakistan will play in the final after a long time and they have defeated India after a long time in the Asia Cup as well. It could also be the year of Pakistan.”

India would be hoping that the loss against Pakistan was an anomaly and they would win the rest of their games to reach the final of the tournament.
