Former Kerala minister Thomas Isaac called again, asked to appear on August 11

Thomas Isaacs has been directed to appear before the federal agency on August 11.

Thiruvananthapuram:

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has again given a notice to senior CPI(M) leader Thomas Isaac to appear in connection with the probe into alleged violations in financial dealings of KIIFB when he was the finance minister of Kerala in the previous LDF. government, sources said on Wednesday.

Confirming the development, CPI(M)-run TV Kairali News said Isaac has been directed to appear before the federal agency on August 11.

Mr. Isaac has not responded to the latest notice.

Earlier, the ED had issued a notice to the senior Marxist leader to appear before him on July 19 in the second week of July. However, he did not appear before the probe agency saying that he has to attend classes at a party- run institute in Thiruvananthapuram.

Then, Mr Isaac had termed the ED notice as a ‘political move’ by the BJP government at the Centre, alleging that it was misusing all investigative agencies for its political gains.

He had said before the last assembly election that the ED, CAG and even the Income Tax Department were behind the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).

“What happened then? KIIFB is the state government’s primary agency for funding large and critical infrastructure projects and raised Rs 2,150 crore through its first masala bond last year, raising Rs 50,000 crore for large and critical infrastructure projects.” infrastructure projects in the southern state.” Isaac wrote on his Facebook page, reacting to the ED’s earlier notice.

He also elaborated on the positive impact of KIIFB in the state.
