Mahindra Racing has unveiled the Season 8 M7 electro race car for the 2021/22 Formula E World Championship. The new car was unveiled at the ZF factory in the UK and comes with a new livery that signifies a new identity for the team. The new M7Electro sports Mahindra’s new EV logo and is finished in a stellar red colour. Speaking to carandbike ahead of the unveiling, Team Principal, Dilbagh Gill revealed that the new livery pays homage to Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari from the mid-2000s. The Season 8 race car was unveiled in the presence of Gill, along with drivers Alexander Sims and Oliver Rowland, as well as Mahindra & Mahindra’s Chief Customer and Brand Officer Asha Kharga.

Mahindra’s new EV logo now sits prominently on the M7Electro

Speaking at the unveiling event, Asha Kharga said, “The new Dynamic Mahindra wordmark reflects today’s sleeker, more tech-focused Mahindra. The new born EV logo is electric-in-motion, it feels like red and silver energy Passed at high speed. This reflects our focus and commitment towards the electric revolution. Sporting a new identity, the race team becomes Mahindra’s first company to adorn its assets with new brand identity elements.”

The new M7Electro is similar in design to what was offered in the previous season. However, the team is already working on Gen3 cars that will be coming from Season 9. Meanwhile, in Season 8, Mahindra will begin a new phase of the team partnership with Shell, as it expands its partnership with the team on a multi-year basis. The team has also extended its partnership with luxury Swiss watchmaker Maurice Lacroix, who continues as the official timekeeper.

Formula E Season 8 is scheduled to begin with a pre-season test from November 29 to December 2, 2021 at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain. The World Championships will begin with a double header in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. The next season is set to be the longest in the history of Formula E, with 16 races on the calendar.
