Formula E: Tata Consultancy Services joins Jaguar Racing as title partner for 2021/22 season

Tata Consultancy Services has joined the Jaguar Racing team as the title partner for the 2021/22 Formula E World Championship. The team will now be called Jaguar TCS Racing as part of a multi-year partnership beginning in the upcoming season 8, the organization confirmed in a statement. Jaguar Land Rover and TCS will build on their existing business relationship with the new Jaguar TCS Racing partnership, and help the automaker show off its electrification plans to the world.

As part of the rebranding exercise, the team will use the modified livery of the Jaguar i-Type 5 race car in the upcoming season. In addition, Jaguar TCS Racing is elevated within JLR’s recently launched motorsport division as part of the automaker’s re-imagine strategy. The team says it will use this activity to test, learn, develop and collaborate on electric vehicle technologies across the JLR Group, which will benefit future cars from the manufacturer. The move will help JLR make its transition to an all-electric brand by 2025, as well as be in line with the company’s commitment to the Gen3 era of Formula E.

As part of the restructuring, James Barkley will take on the role of Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Motorsport Limited in addition to his role as Team Principal of Jaguar TCS Racing. Thierry Bollor, CEO – Jaguar Land Rover, became the chairman of the new organization. All future opportunities and benefits for both Jaguar and Land Rover brands will be explored through this newly formed division.

With regard to plans for the upcoming Formula E season, Jaguars will build on the successful end of this year’s championship which saw the team finish as runners-up. Drivers Sam Bird and Mitch Evans will continue to drive the i-Type 5 race car. The team says it is working to improve energy management, as well as taking time to understand and simulate the new qualification system.

The team is also practicing in-garage pitstops, which will become a key feature of the first 10 minutes of the new format.

Fornula E Season 8 will start with Diriyah e-Prix on January 28, 2022 in Saudi Arabia. This season will include 16 races in 12 cities around the world.
