Fortnite suffered an epic seven-hour loss during the Winterfest event. details here

The online battle royale game, which recently began its Chapter 3 with significant changes to the environment, began requiring players to log in and look for matches (11 a.m. New York time) and game servers were reported to be “stability issues”. The reason remained offline. Around 7 p.m., according to Epic’s Fortnite Status Twitter account.

Additional issues with logging into the Epic Games Store were also reported by users, making it impossible for them to play other games online or offline on their Epic account.

As of May, Fortnite had over 350 million registered users, making it one of the most popular video games in the world. It is currently running a Winterfest event that rewards players for spending time in-game and completing quests. Rewards include a pair of new outfits, including a frosted banana and additional bonus items for Fortnite Crew customers.

“Fortnite game servers are back online and Winterfest is on! We appreciate everyone’s understanding as we work to resolve these issues and next week we will have more information on what we are doing to make up for your lost time,” the company tweeted.

The demand has been high throughout the duration of the event which started from 16th December and lasted till 6th January. Earlier this month, Epic said it was having trouble distributing its winter gifts to players — “Sgt. Winter can’t live with so many guests at once!” The company tweeted – and there were other times of downtime for the game.

To soothe players for the disruption and reassure them they won’t miss out on the Winterfest loot, the company said it will provide details next week on how they will be able to capture lost time.
