The Coimbatore City Police has arrested four persons for possessing more than a ton of banned tobacco products in separate incidents.
Saibaba Colony Police on Thursday arrested KK Pudur’s S. Prabhu (42), M. Saravanan (39) and C. Prakash (39) of Annai Indira Nagar were arrested in Kavundampalayam with 185 kg of banned tobacco products. On the basis of a specific information, Inspector P. Renuka Devi and his team arrested him with banned material from a godown on KK Pudur Road. Police have recovered a mini cargo carrier, a motorcycle and four mobile phones from their possession. The fourth person, Saravan Kumar, managed to escape.
In another incident, RS Puram police arrested S.Jiva Nagar resident of Cheran Ma Nagar for possessing 886 kg of banned tobacco products. Ramachandran (38) was arrested. The narcotics were seized from a godown on Thadagam Road on Wednesday, police said.
