Four stuck in sewage line in Rohini; rescue operation underway

Four people, including three line personnel, are feared trapped in a sewage line in Rohini late Tuesday night, senior police officials said. According to DCP (External North) Brijendra Kumar Yadav, he received a call at Samaypur Badli police station at 6.43 pm that three line staff of MTNL had fallen into the sewer line at SGT Nagar on Main Bawana Road. Police said the second victim was a rickshaw driver who had gone inside to rescue the labourers.

Police have identified the line personnel as Bachche Singh, Pintu and Suraj, while the rickshaw puller has been identified as Satish.

On receiving the information, the police team reached the spot and cordoned off the area. Fire brigade officials and an ambulance were also present on the spot. Till this report was not filed, the DCP said that rescue efforts were on and no person was rescued.

Delhi Fire Service chief Atul Garg said that four fire tenders were sent to the spot and rescue operation is underway. JCBs were also pressed into service.
