Fraud case filed against two associates of former minister

The Tiruvallur District Crime Branch police on Friday registered a case against two aides of former AIADMK minister B V Ramana for cheating after receiving money to get an appointment in a transport corporation.

According to complainant P. Balakrishnan of Villupuram district, C Annamalai, an AIADMK functionary, received Rs 3.5 lakh from him in 2015 for getting employment as an electrician in a transport corporation at the MLA’s office in Tiruvallur. When he was receiving the money, the former minister’s personal assistant Sivaprakasam was also present. They alleged that since 2015, they kept on avoiding returning the amount and did not get the job as promised.

A complaint was lodged with Tiruvallur SP RV Varun Kumar. The complaint has been forwarded to the District Crime Branch. Annamalai and Sivaprakasam have been booked under IPC sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (trust of criminal breach of trust).
