Free education, free electricity, free water: Kejriwal’s promise to Goa

Ahead of the assembly elections in Goa, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday promised free education, free 24X7 electricity and water to the state. AAP coordinator announced to distribute 1,000 to every Goa woman above the age of 18 years. He said that he would develop the tourism sector of the coastal state as per international standards.

“We will provide Rs 1,000 to every woman who is above 18 years of age. The tourism sector will be developed as per international standards. Goa will have 24×7 free electricity and water. Roads will be improved and free education will be provided in all government schools,” Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday.

Kejriwal, who arrived in Goa on Saturday afternoon, campaigned door-to-door from St Andre along with party candidate Ramrao Wagh, AAP Goa convener Rahul Mhambre and party leader Amit Palekar.

He said that his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has developed a 13-point agenda for the people of Goa in which he has also promised to provide employment to the youth of Goa. “Those who will not get employment, they will get help” 3,000 per month,” he said.

Besides this, he also vowed to open mohalla clinics and hospitals like his party had done to provide better and free health facilities in Delhi. Mohalla clinics and hospitals will be opened in every village and district of Goa for better and free healthcare. The problem of farming will be solved after discussing with the farmer community. The trading system will be streamlined and simplified,” the Delhi Chief Minister said.

On the issue of mining, Kejriwal said, “Mining has a huge vested interest, we will give land rights in six months after coming to power.”

Assembly elections will be held in Goa on February 14. The counting of votes will take place on March 10. Currently, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the ruling party in Goa. This time, the four major political parties that will be contesting against each other are the Congress-Goa Forward Party alliance, Trinamool Congress Party (AITMC), BJP and AAP. AAP has decided to field candidates in all 40 assembly constituencies of the coastal state.
