DU vice-chancellor Prof Yogesh Singh had earlier said that the two-year post-graduate degree has been done and students can complete their graduation and post-graduation within four years. This makes way for a flexible curriculum. Singh said that if students are allowed to go to the courses they are interested in, they will be able to perform better.

Students and teachers, however, are opposing the implementation of FYUP. Many academicians believe that the implementation of this policy will increase the fees of the students. Thus people belonging to marginalized sections will suffer.

entrance examinations: DU may make changes in the admission process for its undergraduate courses from the new academic year. Admission will be on the basis of marks in both entrance exam as well as class 12 board exam. DU may conduct the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) or Delhi University Common Entrance Test (DUCET). If implemented, 50 percent weightage will be given to the marks obtained in the entrance exam, while the remaining 50 percent weightage will be given to the class 12 board exam marks. However, the university is yet to decide whether it will go ahead with the common entrance test – CUCET or have its own entrance test – DUCET.
