The introduction is interesting but it is soon realized that the director wants to focus more on the rowdy angle in the story. He wants to fill the story of a rowdy with comic elements.

As a young boy, Vasu (Sudip Kishan) is reluctantly dressed as a troublemaker by Naidu (Posani), his grandfather’s (Naginedu) Man Friday, for his family’s prestige and from a rowdy Bairagi. For revenge. Sandeep Kishan can neither balance the roles of a rowdy nor as a normal youth who has fallen for Neha Shetty. His riotousness only serves to save the heroine and her family.

Gully Rowdy

  • Cast: Sandeep Kishan, Neha Shetty, Bobby Simha
  • Direction: G Nageswara Reddy
  • Music: Sai Karthik, Ram Mirial

Sandeep Kishan is lost among the ensemble cast. The film is loud and the attempt to create laughter is pathetic. Rajendra Prasad is on top and there is little he can do with his stereotypical behaviour. He plays the role of Venkata Rao, a cop whose land has been taken over by the villains. His daughter takes the help of Vasu and the villain is killed in the process. Now his son is furious and top cop Raghu Naik (Bobby Simha) is collecting evidence, fully aware that Venkata Rao’s family is involved in the mess. An important reveal becomes absurd in the final scenes.

It is sad that being produced by Kona Venkat did not help the film. Nothing remarkable, neither the performances of the lead pair – Neha and Sandeep adequate and Venela Kishore’s comedy is flat – nor the music and cinematography.

The film is an attempt to combine an action entertainer with a rom-com, but nothing works.
