Cricketers wished on social media as soon as the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi began in India from Wednesday. The 10-day festival began with the coronavirus pandemic no longer casting its shadow on the festivities. The idols of Lord Ganesha, the god of prosperity and knowledge and the god of obstacles (vighnaharta), are installed in the homes and public pandals of Indians on Ganesh Chaturthi. People worship the god and the festival ends with his idol being immersed in a nearby river or sea. The final process is called “immersion”.
