Ganga Expressway: All you need to know Meerut News – Times of India

Shahjahanpur: After inaugurating Purvanchal Expressway and laying the foundation stone of Jewar airport, PM Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of this ambitious plan. Ganga Express Way project from Shahjahanpur on Saturday. The move could give a new shape to the BJP’s development discourse ahead of the UP assembly elections to be held in the next few months.
Here’s what you need to know about the expressway:
* The 594 km long expressway, undoubtedly the longest in the country, will start from Bijauli village along NH-334 in Meerut and end at Judapur Dandu village near the bypass of NH-2 in Prayagraj. It will pass through 10 districts including Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli and Pratapgarh.
* It is in Shahjahanpur where it is proposed to build a 3.5 km long runway for emergency landing and takeoff of fighter jets.
* Six lane expressway, expandable up to eight lanes 120 meters wide The total land area acquired for the construction of the road. Along with this, it is also proposed to build a service road of 3.75 meters wide on one side so that the residents of the villages around the project area can get easy transport facility.
Along with this, nine public convenience centers, seven railway overbridges, 14 major bridges, 126 minor bridges and 381 underpasses will be built for the convenience of the people. Interchange facility will also be made available at 17 places for entry and exit on the expressway. A service road will also be built for the residents of the villages around the project.
* The project covers a large part of the West UP region which was affected by farmers’ unrest against three agricultural laws.
* Projected as a “milestone” in the state’s infrastructure development, the Ganga Expressway will provide direct road connectivity from the eastern UP region to the national capital region.
* Travel time between Delhi and Prayagraj will be reduced to 7 hours
* A government spokesperson said that the state government had approved the Ganga Expressway project on November 26 last year at a cost of Rs 36,230 crore. UPEIDA sources said around 18,55,000 saplings would be planted along the expressway for environmental protection, besides the project would be operated through the use of solar energy.
