Gavaskar on how tragedy shaped Hardik Pandya’s new avatar: Every time he does well, he looks up at the sky

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya returned to the Indian team after an exceptional Indian Premier League. Pandya won the tournament in his first innings as captain of a team and had his best IPL personally.

He was recalled to the Indian team after performing for Gujarat Titans and has been directly dominant in match-winning performances. Pandya has been seen in a very calm avatar since his return from injury, which many have tried to argue.

Speaking during the final match between India and South Africa, Gavaskar said that Pandya’s personal tragedy shaped him into a better leader and this is evident from the care he shows for his father, which will be released in January, 2021. I had gone to heaven.

“It’s a very interesting story. It was a big shock for both the brothers to lose their father sometime back. We just saw in Father’s Day pictures how close they were to their father and how their father treated them as cricketers. Helped it grow in the form,” Gavaskar said.

“So to be able to come out of it and do it the way both brothers have done, has been a story that will encourage a lot of other people. There are times when a tragedy can strike you, but You have to come out of that tragedy for your father, your loved ones, so that he is happy to see it out there. Every time brothers do well, they look up to the sky to tell their father that it is for you , “They said.

Gavaskar said it is good for India to have a leader like Pandya, who has a lot to offer to Indian cricket.

“And you know it’s fantastic, the maturity I see in Hardik Pandya’s batting, the maturity that has come in his cricket. And there is only one hope for Indian cricket, now it has replaced its talent with that small responsibility,” he said.

“He grew up in a team of superstars, be it India or Mumbai Indians and there it is easy to say that I will play my game. Now he realized as a captain that I need to take responsibility, I need to show my team how things should be,” concluded Gavaskar.
