Gehlot and Pilot have been at loggerheads publicly for over two years

BJP leader and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Saturday attacked the Congress government in Rajasthan, alleging that corruption was rampant under its rule and the power tussle between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his former deputy Sachin Pilot has pushed the state back. .

Addressing a public meeting after offering prayers at the Salasar Balaji temple in Churu district along with his son and MP Dushyant Singh, he alleged that Gehlot and Pilot have left no stone unturned to target each other. He said that in his tussle he pushed Rajasthan back.

Gehlot and Pilot have been at loggerheads publicly for more than two years. In 2020, Pilot led a rebellion in the party for a leadership change in the state. However, Gehlot managed to survive and Pilot and some of his loyalists were later dropped from the state cabinet.

Their conflict has intensified after both the senior Congress leaders used sharp words against each other in public, including during Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo visit in December last year.

Raje’s public meeting was organized to mark his birthday, which falls on 8 March. As Holi, also known as Dhulandi in some parts of Rajasthan, will be celebrated on the day, Raje decided to put up a show of strength on Saturday.

The meeting, organized personally by Raje, was attended by several BJP leaders including Ashok Parnami, Rajpal Singh and Yunus Khan. Separately, the BJP Yuva Morcha held a massive protest against the state government in Jaipur, which was attended by state party president Satish Poonia, Deputy Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore and others.

Targeting the Gehlot government over corruption and illegal mining, Raje claimed that the CAG audit pointed out illegal mining in the state.

He also highlighted the achievements of his previous government and called upon the people to bring the party to power in the next elections.
