Social media users were confused by the signs.

Have you ever been to a restaurant or public place and been confused by the gender signs on the bathroom doors? Now, the signs displayed on the bathroom door at a restaurant in Jaipur have started a buzz on the internet. A podcaster named Ravi Handa took to Twitter to share pictures of the signs, which showed very similar signs.

A sign with a slanting red line indicates a woman in a sari, and a sign with a straight line from the waist down indicates a man in a mundu. These signboards were put up in a South Indian restaurant. In the caption, Handa wrote, “Request to all restaurants – please start using English to indicate bathrooms. Stop trusting our fashion sense.”

In a follow-up tweet, she wrote, “For some who don’t get it, with a slanting line on the left is indicating a saree, so lady. A lungi with a straight line down to the waist/ indicating the dhoti.” /Mundu, so mail. The restaurant is located in Jaipur, Rajasthan.”

Social media users were confused by the signs. One user commented, “I saw Mars and Venus in a pub 6 years ago and got lost.”

Another user wrote, “Most disturbing trend! Especially after a drink or two it is impossible to guess.”

A third user wrote, “I don’t see a problem with it. It’s a fact common knowledge that men and women have different clothes. Imagination is confusing, it’s true. Someone may have a mistake in their designated washroom.” Maybe. But I don’t mind.” Comparison of saree and lungi.

A fourth user commented, “This is actually a very gender sensitive sign. Anyone who wears a saree etc can enter regardless of biological sex.”
