Get statehood or break ties with BJP: Congress

Congress leader V. Narayanasamy on Tuesday called on Chief Minister N. Rangasamy to break ties with the BJP in the union territory if he was not able to fulfill his promise of getting statehood for the union territory.

Addressing Congress workers on the occasion of the party’s foundation day at the State Congress Committee office, the former chief minister said, “There was no point in mourning after the ruling coalition was in alliance.”

Sri Rangasamy should tell who is stopping him from getting statehood to Puducherry. “He should tell the people whether it is the Prime Minister or the Home Minister who is stopping the Union Territory from getting statehood.”

Recalling the role of the Congress party in the country’s freedom movement, the senior leader said, “There will be ups and downs for the party. Congress will not always be out of power and BJP will not always be in power.

Sree Narayanasamy also expressed confidence in the Congress coming back to power in Puducherry. The leader also asked the party workers to contest the local body elections without an alliance or alliance. MP V. Vaithilingam and PCC chief AV Subramaniam participated.
