In a world where many girls suffer the brutal reality of child marriage, one young girl’s tale stands out as a source of inspiration and renewal of spirit. S. Nirmala, a brave teenager who rejected cultural standards, avoided the clutches of forced early marriage and triumphed in her scholastic goals. Nirmala, a resident of Pedda Harivanam in the Kurnool district, has achieved an outstanding score of 421 out of 440, amounting to an impressive 95.7 percent, in her AP intermediate first year board exams as reported by the Times of India. Displaying academic excellence from early on, she had previously excelled in her Class 10 exams, securing 89.5 percent with 537 out of 600 marks. Despite her academic prowess, her family had other plans in store for her.
Faced with the prospect of being wedded off against her will, Nirmala refused to surrender her dreams. Given that she was the youngest of her siblings and came from a low-income family, TOI reports that Nirmala’s parents planned to arrange her marriage just as they had done for her three older sisters. Refusing to give in to familial pressure, Nirmala sought help from local legislator Y. Saiprasad Reddy at a community outreach programme in 2023. Touched by her predicament, collector G. Srujana was alerted by the Adoni MLA and stepped in right away and rescued Nirmala from the the prospects of child marriage with their their prompt action.
As a result, the district administration facilitated her admittance to the Kasturba Gandhi Balikala Vidyalaya in Aspari, allowing her to finish her studies in a safe and supportive atmosphere. Nirmala, as reported by TOI expressed her future goals, including becoming an IPS officer. Her goal is to help eradicate child marriages and encourage girls like herself to follow their aspirations without obstacles.
On April 12, the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh (BIEAP) issued the AP Intermediate first-year examination results, which showed that 67 per cent of students who sat the examinations this year passed. In comparison to the previous year, when 61 per cent of the students passed, this indicates a rise in the pass rate.In the vocational stream, 60 per cent of first-year students and 71 per cent of second-year students passed their examinations.
Meanwhile, Ruchi Kumari, a farmer’s daughter from Buxar, finished second in the district after getting 453 marks in the arts stream in the newly revealed Bihar Board Inter class 12 results 2024. Ruchi plans to complete her education while simultaneously working towards her ambition of becoming an officer. She aspires to pass the UPSC exam, become an officer, and serve the nation.
