Girl set on fire for refusing marriage proposal in Jharkhand’s Dumka

Dumka (Jharkhand) [India]Oct 7 (ANI): Jharkhand Police on Friday arrested a girl for setting her on fire after she refused to marry him.

The girl has been referred to Ranchi hospital.

According to the police, the accused Rajesh Raut knew the 19-year-old girl and was already married.

“So far, it is learned that the girl was attacked while she was sleeping by an acquaintance of hers. He has been referred to Ranchi. The accused is already married and wants to marry the victim. The parents (of the girl) were not ready for the marriage,” said Shivendra, deputy superintendent of police, Jarmundi.

DSP Shivendra also told that on Thursday night the accused was seen running away from the spot after committing the crime.

Reacting to the incident, Pratul Shadeo of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday took a jibe and said that “law and order in Jharkhand has completely collapsed”.

He linked the case with Ankita, a class 12th girl who was burnt alive while sleeping in Dumka for turning down an offer.

Ankita was set ablaze on 23 August and died on 28 August while undergoing treatment at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS).

The BJP leader said, “The fear of law from the unrighteous and suspicious minded people has completely gone away. This is another incident when another daughter was burnt alive just because she refused to marry. Where is the fear of law?

He said the incident was “very shocking”.

“We believe that the government is totally involved in corruption and law and order is not its priority, where within 34 months, there have been more than 5,000 rape cases and only 1 per cent have been convicted,” he said. Said these things were going to happen.

“The girl has got 90 per cent burns on her body and she should be airlifted immediately and the chief minister should come down heavily on the district officials.

He further alleged that the government was not paying attention to the law and order situation in the state.

Shadev further said that the accused was also threatening the girl that “I will burn you alive like Ankita”.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MP Vijay Hansda assured a thorough probe into the matter, saying there are some incidents and people who have “criminal tendencies” and the police administration will leave no stone unturned in the matter.

JMM MP Hansda said, “The way such incidents have been happening in the past, the way the administration has worked effectively.”

He further condemned the incident saying that “there is a need for social consciousness against people with such ideology so that they back down.”

“If any wrong incident happens, it should be strongly condemned. However, I don’t want to get into petty politics by bringing in statistics.

Meanwhile, JMM MLA Sudivya Kumar said that he has been informed about the incident “right now” and will provide all possible help to the victim.

Congress spokesperson Rakesh Sinha also reacted on the matter on Friday saying that the incident is completely condemnable and for such incidents the culprit should be punished both by law and society and they should be boycotted along with their families so that Let there be an atmosphere of worry and fear. develops in the minds of the people.

“It is a matter to think about where the society is going because they are setting people on fire on every next issue. Such culprits should be hanged and society should also come forward to punish them.

Talking politically, Sinha further said, “It is funny if BJP comments on law and order situation of any other party.”

“Instead of politicizing such incidents, I believe BJP should also think how to deal with such heinous crimes,” he said. (ANI)
