Give better facilities in KGH, Visakhapatnam Collector told the doctors

District Collector A. Mallikarjuna has directed the medical officers to give top priority to provide better facilities at King George Hospital (KGH), which caters to the medical needs of maximum number of patients.

The Collector, while presiding over the meeting of the Hospital Development Committee of KGH here on Friday, issued guidelines for the facilities and development of the hospital. He held separate meetings with the Heads of Departments of different specialties and held extensive meetings on the needs of the departments concerned.

Dr. Mallikarjuna said that he would not only be available on the WhatsApp group for them but would also review the progress and functioning of various departments. He said that the government is spending thousands of crores of rupees to provide better medical facilities to the poor patients. Doctors should also try to serve the patients in a better way. He also asked to send the details of vacant posts.

KGH Superintendent P. Maithili read out the agenda items. The collector approved some items on the basis of their importance. He said that a task force committee has been constituted to investigate the allegations of corruption in the gynecological ward and morgue.

Dr. Mallikarjuna said that the hospital was already generating 270 kW of solar power. He said that by installing solar panels on top of the new CSR block, another 120 kW could be generated, which would save the hospital Rs 45 lakh annually. The project will cost ₹ 2 crore and will be done in phases with CSR funds. He also gave approval for purchase of medical equipments and CC cameras for Dermatology and Orthopedic blocks, repair of internal roads and drains.

When the committee members apprised him of the shortage of ‘Mahaprasthanam’ vehicles, the collector immediately agreed to sanction the funds.
