‘Give free ayushman bharat card to koragas’

Deputy Commissioner KV Rajendra has asked the Gram Panchayats to distribute Ayushman Bharat cards to such members of the Korga community who have not yet availed it free of cost.

Speaking at a meeting here recently to discuss the issues and development of the people of the Korga community, he said that the panchayats should prepare a list of people from the community who do not have cards.

He said that the Panchayats should bear the cost of application fee for the card from the Scheduled Caste Development Grant released to the Panchayats.

Panchayats should also prepare a list of such people of the community who have not availed the Aadhar card and BPL card. He said the list should be ready by the end of this month.

Dr. Rajendra said that the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department should organize Korga Mela in the third week of this month to create awareness among the beneficiaries about employment opportunities to the educated youth of the society. The department should collect the information of educated and unemployed youth of the community.

He said the NSS unit of the MSW department of Mangalore University may conduct a survey to collect comprehensive information on the condition of the Korga community.

The Gram Panchayats should organize a special meeting to inform the Koragas about the government facilities available to them. He said that the parents of the children of Korga should compulsorily enroll their children in schools.
