Glass: The glass wall of Surat Bhavan is the death knell for the pink stars. Surat News – Times of India

Surat: In a tragic incident, a flock of Eastern European migratory bird species, Pink Starling (Pastor Rose) killed a glass Building leading to the death of 27 birds.
While about 10 have flown in, the bodies of the unlucky winged visitors were recovered from the spot at the Surat District Co-operative Bank, where they hit its outer glass wall which reflects and possibly misleads the flight path of the swarm. Still working.
The event has puzzled many researchers in the area, including veterans who claim it is the first time in the history of the city to their knowledge.
“I don’t remember any such incident in India, but there are a large number of reported deaths of birds abroad when they hit glass buildings or windows,” Dr P said. PramodSenior Principal Scientist, Salim Ali Center For Ornithology and Natural History, Coimbatore.
Dr Pramod, who is pursuing his post-doctoral studies at IISc, Bangalore, said, “Glass buildings have become a threat to birds, especially migratory species. They get confused when they look at the sky in the reflecting mirror. Surat is located in the migration path of pink starlings and the birds will have to stay in the city for a few days.
“It is an unfortunate incident and we will ensure that it is not repeated. It is an Eastern European bird that migrates to India during winters. This is the first time I am facing such an incident.” Puneet NayariDeputy Conservator of Forests, Surat.
