Go bankruptcy first: Rival Air India, IndiGo increase frequency of flights

With cash-strapped GoFirst canceling flights for a long time, other Indian airlines are taking advantage of the opportunity by adding new flights. Domestic carriers Air India and Indigo have increased flight frequencies on several busy routes to fill the vacuum left by GoFirst.

According to a report in Economic Times, Tata-backed Air India has added flights on Delhi-Srinagar and Delhi-Leh routes.

Indigo has also started flights connecting the two cities from Mumbai. While Vistara has increased flights on the Delhi-Mumbai route.

Pratt has argued that Go First failed because of “its own poor management and events such as Covid”.

Both sides are fighting legal battles in India, Singapore and Delaware. Last week, the Indian tribunal granted bankruptcy protection to GoFirst which will give it time to get back on its feet.

Go First mainly had a high frequency in holiday destinations such as Goa, Leh and Srinagar.
