Goa: Class IX-XII students likely to return to school Goa News – Times of India

The expert committee said that the decision to resume the lower classes will be taken after about 15 days or during Diwali.

Panaji: The state’s COVID-19 expert committee on Monday decided to recommend to the government the reopening of Class IX and X schools as well as higher secondary schools.
However, it said the government would have to prepare an action plan in the form of appropriate SOPs before taking a decision on reopening. Committee member Shekhar Salkar said that schools will also have to give time for preparation.
“The expert committee felt that the task force can decide when the schools should be opened. Schools will need to be given time to work on the seating arrangement,” Salkar said.
The members felt that the lower classes should not be opened. “However, parents can decide whether they want their children to attend online classes. They should be given a choice. All the SOPs have to be developed by the government, the expert committee cannot do that because we don’t know the structure of the schools.
He said that after about 15 days or during Diwali, the committee will assess how the system is working, and then a decision can be taken on opening lower classes. The discussion during the meeting was limited to the opening of the school.
