Goa Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Kiran Kandolkar has claimed that her political advisor I-PAC dumped party candidates after the state assembly elections last week. Talking to reporters here on Monday, Kandolkar also said that he was not quitting the post of Trinamool Congress’ Goa unit chief, but was upset with I-PAC chief Prashant Kishor and his team.

There has been speculation for some time about a rift between the TMC and the I-PAC (Indian Political Action Committee), which helped the Mamata Banerjee-led party during the West Bengal assembly elections. The TMC had contested the Goa Assembly elections in alliance with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP).

The voting took place on February 14 and the counting of votes will take place on March 10. Kandolkar had contested from the Aldona assembly seat, while his wife Kavita had contested from Thivim on a TMC ticket. He claimed that most of the TMC candidates in Goa felt that the I-PAC had left them after the elections.

“All the candidates fielded by TMC have some or the other issues with I-PAC. When the candidates told me about their issues with Prashant Kishor and his I-PAC team, I discussed the matter with my party workers, who advised me to step down as TMC Goa president.

“I am not quitting as TMC Goa chief, but I am upset with Prashant Kishor and the I-PAC team,” he said. They have called a meeting of all the party candidates on Tuesday to discuss voting in their respective constituencies. added.
