Godavari flood | Over 60,000 people have been sent to relief camps from 600 villages in Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) officials said that over 60,000 people have been shifted to rehabilitation centers from flood-affected villages in six districts of the state.

Godavari floods, highest in last three decades, has affected more than 600 habitations in 44 mandals. Altogether 220 relief camps have been set up.

An APSDMA team led by Sai Prasad, who is monitoring the flood situation from the APSDMA headquarters at Kunchanpally in Guntur district, said that there are 21 divisions in Konaseema district, nine in East Godavari, five in Alluri Sitarama Raju, West Godavari. Four in the district, three in Eluru district and two in Kakinada district are affected by the floods.

“Around 10 teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) 10” th APSDMA Managing Director BR Ambedkar said the battalion and an equal number of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were deployed to carry out rescue and relief operations in coordination with the concerned authorities.

“APSDMA is also monitoring the discharge from Krishna, Pranahita, Indravati and Sabari rivers flood, Polavaram, Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage, Tungabhadra and other projects. Officials are monitoring the situation from the state control room and issuing alerts from time to time.

Minister visited the colonies

Endowments Minister Kottu Satyanarayana and Chief Whip Mudunuri Prasad Raju along with Collector P. Prashanthi visited the flood affected settlements in Koderu and Ponnapally and Narasarapuram mandals of Achanta in West Godavari district on Saturday.

He directed the special officers to ensure the supply of quality food in relief camps and distribution of essential commodities to the tribals taking refuge in the hills.
