Slight fall in gold; Silver rose by Rs 40

Gold prices fell marginally by Rs 3 to Rs 45,258 per 10 grams in the national capital on Tuesday, in line with weak global precious metal prices and rupee appreciation, according to HDFC Securities. In the previous trade, this precious metal had closed at Rs 45,261 per 10 grams.

In contrast, silver rose by Rs 40 to Rs 58,750 per kg from Rs 58,710 per kg in the previous trade.

The Indian rupee rose 15 paise to 73.59 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday.

In the international market, gold was trading flat at $ 1,761 an ounce and silver at $ 22.42 an ounce.

According to Tapan Patel, Senior Analyst (Commodities), HDFC Securities, “The two-day US FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee) meeting will begin today and market players will await comments from Fed officials.”
