Gold seized at Coimbatore airport

Officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence seized 3.5 kg gold from seven people who arrived at Coimbatore International Airport on Monday morning on an Air Arabia flight from Sharjah.

Based on specific intelligence collected, the authorities nabbed seven passengers who brought gold concealed in waist belts, raw chains and bangles. A total of 3.5 kg gold worth ₹1.83 crore was seized from them.

A 30-year-old traveler from Kozhikode, Firoz Rahman, was arrested after gold worth over Rs 50 lakh was seized from him. Further investigation is on.
