Mangaluru: Customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) here seized gold worth Rs 43.69 lakh in two separate cases of illegal smuggling of the precious metal.
In the first case, a passenger from Dubai was carrying gold in the form of paste. This came to the fore during checking.
An official press release said that the authorities seized 732 grams of 24 carat purity gold, valued at Rs 37,69,800, from him.
In another case, gold worth Rs 6,00,181 was seized from a traveler who had kept it in four pieces at the bottom of a diary cream tin.
