According to Hu, the new icon will start showing up now if you use Chrome Canary (the developer version of Chrome), but it will roll out to everyone else in the next few months.

Google is changing the logo of its Chrome browser for the first time in eight years. Google Chrome designer Elvin Hu gives a first look at the logo’s redesign in a thread on Twitter.
“Some of you may have noticed a new icon in Chrome’s Canary update today, Yes! We’re refreshing Chrome’s brand icons for the first time in 8 years. The new icons will soon be visible across all your devices,” Hu said in a tweet.

The icon has been simplified/flattened by removing the shadow. The colors are bright and the proportions vary, making the big blue ball in the middle quite large. Google is changing this even further with a variety of variants designed to make you look more at home on Windows, macOS, and iOS.
“We’ve made OS-specific customizations. We want the icons to feel recognizable to Chrome, but crafted well for each OS. For example, on Windows, the icons take a clearly categorized look.” appear at home on Windows 10 and 11,” Hu said.
The new Google Chrome logo will soon be live for users across devices with the release of Chrome 100.
