Google: Google shares Google Assistant feature Alert: New way to make your smart speaker stop talking – Times of India

Google A new assistant has started rolling out google assistant Speciality. As the tech giant announced in a Twitter post, you now tell Google Assistant to stop talking without saying the trigger word.hey google‘ to activate the assistant. “Helpful new Google Assistant feature alerts! Do you want your smart display or speaker to stop talking? Just say “Stop” – no #HeyGoogle needed,” the Twitter post goes on.
The feature was first introduced by the company at its annual I/O event in 2019, where it demonstrated the ability to cancel an alarm by simply saying “Stop”. A similar feature called Quick Phrases made its way to Google’s flagship Pixel 6 series in 2021. Now, these quick phrases are coming to smart speakers with Google Assistant.
Although this feature is limited to just the word “stop” for now, it’s likely that you may be able to use several other features in the future without saying the ‘Hey Google’ trigger phrase. You may be able to use the feature for various commands like answering calls, turning off alarms, and a few other basic tasks. This will put Google Assistant on standby and whenever you receive a call, Assistant will wait for your command to ‘answer’ or ‘reject’ the call. Similarly, when your alarm goes off, Assistant will wait for your order to say ‘Stop’ or ‘Snooze’. Codes for similar functions have already been seen in the Google Assistant app for the Pixel 6 smartphone.
In a previous analysis, 9to5Google had predicted that the feature would be available on all devices including smartphones, speakers, TVs and many more. According to the report, apart from the above mentioned commands, users will also be able to add special commands according to their choice. These commands will be classified into ‘Recommended’, ‘Alarm’, ‘Connect’, ‘General Information’, ‘Lights’, ‘Media Control’, ‘Timer’ and ‘To-Dos’.
