They have let go of thousands of employees in recent months to become profitable, as investors become more wary of high valuations in a turbulent stock market that has hit tech stocks around the world.

ShareChat also said it had “aggressively optimized costs” across its business over the past six months, including marketing and infrastructure.

“As capital becomes costlier, companies need to prioritize their bets and invest only in projects with the highest impact,” said a ShareChat spokesperson. “Our goal is to get through 2023 and 2024 through more uncertain global economic conditions.”

Valued at $5 billion, Bengaluru-based ShareChat has over 2,200 employees and is spreading its team globally across India, the United States and Europe, according to its website.
