Google Maps can help you save money on fuel: what it means

Google continues to improve and add new features to Maps for its users, and we’re likely to see more options on the platform soon. Maps are used by millions of people for navigation, and over the years, it has given us tools to make traveling easier. Soon, Google Maps could even be your savior by helping you save money on your car fuel bills.

According to a new report, Maps has indicated that there will be an option where you can choose the engine type of your car. So, if you have a petrol, diesel, hybrid or even an electric car, Maps will be able to help you with the best route for your trip.

The map will likely ask the user to choose the type of car they drive, and based on that it can identify the most economical way of driving to the destination.

Installing such filters can be quite effective, especially with fuel prices rising at a regular pace these days. The map already has route selection based on the mode of transport like car, two wheeler or even on foot.

Some might say that fuel efficiency is based on driving style, road conditions and traffic density in an area. But Google can identify certain localities in the region and give you a better route option.

In some countries, Maps has started giving details about charging stations for electric cars and even electric bikes. So it’s possible that Google already has data for electric vehicles to prolong their driving range.
