Google will give additional staff bonus this year

Alphabet Inc.’s Google said on Wednesday it will offer additional bonuses to its employees globally this year, as the tech giant pushes back on its return-to-office plan.

A company spokesperson told Reuters that Google will give a one-time cash bonus of $1,600 or equivalent value in their home country this month to all employees, including the company’s expanded workforce and interns.

The latest benefits are in addition to Google’s work-from-home allowance and wellbeing bonus to support its employees during the coronavirus pandemic, the spokesperson said, without giving details of how much the company has set aside overall for the purpose. .

Earlier in March, Google’s internal survey showed a decline in the well-being of its employees over the past year, after which the company announced a slew of benefits, including a $500 Wellbeing Cash bonus.

Last week, Google indefinitely delayed its return-to-office plan amid Omicron-type fears and some resistance to company-mandated vaccinations from its employees. Earlier, the employees were expected to return to office from January 10.
