Pixel Watch gets WearOS 3.5 version and more features

Google launched the Pixel Watch this month and the company is introducing its first smartwatch in select markets.

Google’s Pixel Watch supports wireless charging and the company has also provided a charger in the box. Most people thought that smartwatches could be charged wirelessly from other chargers as well, but as it turns out, that’s not the case.

Google has reportedly confirmed that the Pixel Watch doesn’t support the Qi wireless charging standard, which means you’ll have to use the charger that the company is offering in the box. “Qi charging is not supported on the Google Pixel Watch. There may be some charging configurations where reverse wireless or Qi charging seems to be working. Pixel Watch only supports charging with the provided inbox charger,” Google was quoted as saying by 9to5Google.

The Pixel Watch also won’t charge when you do this through a Google Pixel 7 Pro or Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 device. The watch will not show any indication that it is not charging, but you will not see the level go up either.

Google’s first Pixel Watch has a small coil that prevents it from supporting Qi wireless charging, which may become a limitation for some users. It’s not much different from what Samsung and Apple have adopted for their respective smartwatches. But Google may be faced with more questions than both of them.

The Pixel Watch has a circular display, which is powered by an Exynos chip which is going to expire in a day. It comes with WearOS 3.5 version which gives it ample support for apps through Play Store.

The Pixel Watch has launched in Wi-Fi and LTE variants and is available in select markets for now. It is priced at $349 (approximately Rs 28,700) and is unlikely to come to India, as the company recently revealed.
