Government of Kerala. KSRTC sanctioned ₹100 crore

The Kerala government has sanctioned ₹100 crore to the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) to disburse the pending salaries of its employees for the months of July and August.

The allotment was made with the condition that the single-duty system is to be implemented in the public utility as per the decision taken in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday, which decided to pay pending salaries before Onam. went. Till Tuesday night, 25,628 employees were given pending salaries.

Soon after the fund was sanctioned, KSRTC Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Biju Prabhakar convened a meeting of cluster level officials in Thiruvananthapuram to implement the single-duty system in a phased manner from October 1. From time to time, the Corporation is exploring ways to introduce 12-hour single duty system against the earlier 8-hour duty system to utilize its resources effectively. The trade unions have strongly opposed the move.

As part of switching to the new system, several programs of KSRTC will have to be modified. According to the system, the crew will have to work only eight hours, but their shift will be of 12 hours, which includes 30 minutes rest after five hours of continuous driving.
