Government reins in wheat exports – Times of India

New Delhi: The government has put a curb on the export of wheat by placing it under the “prohibited” category. In an order issued late Friday night, Ministry of Commerce Said that this is being done to manage the country’s overall food security and require the support of neighboring and vulnerable countries.
As per the notification, wheat will be allowed only in the case of “loading where” irrevocable letter of credit has been issued” on or before the notification. It states, “The permission for export shall also be granted on the basis of the permission granted by it”.
