Government to make air sports policy safe, affordable

New Delhi The Modi government is contemplating to set up an apex body to promote aerial sports along with formulating a national aerial sports policy. Play By making it ‘Safe, Affordable, Accessible, Enjoyable and Sustainable’.

The National Air Sports Policy will cover sports such as aerobatics, aeromodelling, amateur built and experimental aircraft, ballooning, drones, skydiving and vintage aircraft.

ministry of civil aviation Said the plan aims to promote aerial sports by making them “safe, affordable, accessible, enjoyable and sustainable”.

The ministry has also sought public opinion on (NASP 2022) by 31 January.

Under the policy, the government plans to set up an Air Sports Federation of India (ASFI) as the apex governing body. ASFI will represent India in the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) – the world governing body for air sports – and other global platforms related to air sports.

The objective of the plan is to establish federations for each aerial sport. The Association will handle the day-to-day activities and will be accountable to ASFI with respect to regulatory oversight.
