Govt approves admission of women cadets in NDA, first batch to enter in June

President Ram Nath Kovind said on Monday that a provision of gender inclusion fund has also been made in the National Education Policy to promote the ability of girl students to learn.

“It is heartening that all the existing 33 Sainik Schools have started admitting girl students. The government has also approved the admission of women cadets in the National Defense Academy. The first batch of women cadets will enter the NDA in June 2022. With the policy decisions and incentives of my government, the number of women personnel in various police forces has more than doubled as compared to 2014,” the President said in his address to Parliament.

Addressing the joint sitting of both the Houses of Parliament at the beginning of the budget session, Kovind said 64,000 crore PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission will prepare the country for future health crisis.

“We have given 150 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines in record time,” he said.

The President said that more than 70 percent of the beneficiaries of the vaccination campaign have been given the second dose.

Highlighting other achievements of the Central Government, he said that under the ‘Har Ghar Jal Initiative’, more than six crore rural households are getting tap water.

Kovind said that India’s agricultural exports have also exceeded Three lakh crores.

He said that despite the pandemic, the country’s farmers produced 300 million tonnes of food grains and 33 crore horticulture produce in 2020-21.

President said that more than 11 crore farmer families got 1.80 lakh crore through PM-KISAN and major changes have been seen in the agriculture sector.

He said that the government has procured more than 433 lakh metric tonnes of wheat, benefiting more than 50 lakh farmers.

The session is starting ahead of crucial assembly elections in five states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur.
