Govt indulging in politics of ‘suppressing’ steadfast voices of opposition: Priyanka after CBI summons to Tejashwi

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday alleged that the BJP-led government was playing a politics of “silencing” the recalcitrant voices of the opposition and claimed that the action of the investigating agencies against Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav was part of it.

His attack on the government came after Tejashwi Yadav was summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to appear for questioning in connection with the alleged land-for-jobs scam.

In a tweet in Hindi, Priyanka Gandhi said, “Why is the BJP government so afraid of the vocal voice of the opposition?” He alleged that by adopting all possible tactics, the government was playing politics to “suppress” the unshakable voices of the opposition. The Congress General Secretary alleged, “The action of the agencies on Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav is inspired by this politics.”

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had alleged on Friday Narendra Modi Criticizing the Center over the Enforcement Directorate’s searches at the premises of former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family, he slammed the government for making “sinister attempts to murder democracy” by misusing investigative agencies against opposition leaders .

Officials said that Tejashwi Yadav was earlier called for questioning on March 4, but he did not appear before the CBI officials, after which a fresh date was given on Saturday.

He said the case pertains to the alleged providing of jobs in the Railways to the Yadav family and its associates in lieu of land gifted or sold at throwaway prices.
