‘Govt school students yet to receive school bags, stationery items in Coimbatore’

Several government school students in Kinathukadavu, along with their parents, held a demonstration in front of the collectorate here on Monday, claiming that they did not receive school bags and stationery items, which are Tamil Nadu’s four-year free educational kits. distributed under the major project of month.

During the weekly grievance redressal meeting, activist AK Periyar Mani appealed to Collector GS Sameeran in this regard. He said government school students across the district, including 127 students in Imidipalayam and around 1,400 students in Kinathukadavu, have not received 14 items, including school bags, geometry boxes and stationery, that should have been distributed through government schemes.

“This is happening across the state. We have repeatedly sent representations to the school education department, legislators and the chief minister’s cell. Government schools have so far received only textbooks and notebooks,” he said.

Commissioner of School Education Department K. Nanthakumar had assured him that by September 2022 this material would reach all the students across the state.
